Many translators and translation agencies have a problem counting the number of words in a translation job. Some of them count them using standard tools, while others use custom-made applications. But often results differ. AIT created AnyCount to produce results that are as accurate as possible. Many translation agencies and translators have already switched to AnyCount because its results are exact and can be trusted. In fact, some of these agencies only accept results produced by AnyCount.

AnyCount produces automatic word, character, line and page counts for all common file formats. It will give you realistic count results because it can count many parts of files that other programs can’t. With the help of AnyCount, you will obtain real results – no word will be left uncounted.

Many translators frequently don’t realize that standard word-count tools don’t count all the parts of a document that play a role in the translation. This means they won’t get paid for some of the work they have done. This may seem not important initially, but if you count how much you lose on every job you do as a result of this, you’ll be surprised at the overall figure.

Word counts in any unit
AnyCount can produce text counts in the following units:
• characters (with spaces)
• characters (without spaces)
• lines
• pages
• words

Word-count units differ from country to country and from project to project. That’s why you can change units or even add your own to supplement the standard choices.

Obtain precise and comprehensive results
AnyCount can count text in those parts of files often omitted by other programs. This means that you’ll never lose a single cent because of incorrect word counts. The settings in AnyCount determine which objects should be included or excluded in count results. These can include numbers, footers, headers, text in shapes and so on. The settings are very easy to change as AnyCount is a fully customizable program.

Counts text in 36 file formats
The first version of AnyCount was only able to count the most popular file formats available at the time, but now the application can manage more file formats than any other specialized word-count tool. It can even count text in scanned documents or image files (such as graphic PDFs).
AIT always welcomes new feature requests and plans to add even more file formats in the future. At
the moment, AnyCount supports the following types of files: BMP, CHM, CSV, DOC, DOCX, GIF, HLP, HTM, HTML, JPG, MIF, ODP, ODS, ODT, PDF, PNG, PPS, PPT, PPTX, PUB, RAR, RTF, SDC, SDD, SDW, SLP, SXC, SXI, SXW, TXT, VSD, WPD, XLS, XLSX, XML and ZIP.

Additional features
The premium version of AnyCount now allows you to issue invoices based on a document’s word count. This feature was requested by many translators, so we added it to make AnyCount even more convenient to use. For those who don’t need this feature, there are less expensive Professional and Standard versions available.
